About this Domestika course:
Learn how to approach children’s illustration projects from brief to the final piece.
Pamela Barbieri is a children's illustrator with more than 6 years of experience. She loves to create cute and colorful characters for all kind of projects. Some of her clients are: Jardín de Genios (Grupo Clarín), Éditions Auzou, Cottage Door Press, The Clever Factory, Catapulta Editores, Revista Namaka, Lake Coloring, Ima Toys, among many others.
In this Domestika course you will learn to illustrate a double page from a kid's magazine. (From scratch to the final delivery)
Course Content:
In this course you'll learn about the different targets that exist in the children's publishing market. You'll also design your own character (Starting with the head and placing special emphasis on expressions)
Once you have defined the face, you will create the body of your character using the "Puppet Method"
Then you'll also learn basic resources such as line, color palettes and composition. Finally your attention should be focus on the brief: what it is, how it is structured and it's importance.
The final project consists on a double-page for a kid's magazine. (That all students will develop from the sketch to the final piece)Finally, Pamela will tell you a bit about how to work as a freelancer, the importance of a good organization and the advantages (and disadvantages) of having an agent.
